Background on my opponent in this election

Taral Patel, who is running against me for the Fort Bend County Precinct 3 Commissioner position, has been indicted nine times since June. Following an investigation by Fort Bend County District Attorney Brian Middleton and the Texas Rangers, Patel is accused of using hateful, racist statements to manipulate election outcomes and to intimidate people in our community. He faces allegations of stealing identities to post divisive messages online, and has refused to answer media questions or participate in candidate forums to answer questions from the public. Commissioner Andy Meyers has repeatedly called on Patel to address his involvement in the scandal.

The case then extended to Judge KP George when he was indicted on September 26, 2024, by a Fort Bend County grand jury for Misrepresentation of Identity by a Candidate. The indictment alleges that George used the alias "Antonio Scalywag" on Facebook with the intent to injure another candidate or influence an election. The Texas Ethics Commission referred the matter to the district attorney for criminal prosecution after reviewing the case, underscoring the importance of protecting the integrity of the electoral process in Fort Bend County. The District Attorney’s Office emphasized the need to deter deceptive political practices and promised to present these cases to juries.

Both are accused of fabricating racist claims to manipulate election outcomes, a strategy that has caused division and fear across our community. Commissioner Andy Meyers had originally called for an investigation by the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office, unaware that it would implicate both George and Patel.

Commissioner Meyers emphasizes the need for transparency and honesty in the local political process, asserting that voters deserve answers from both George and Patel.
